Sometimes in golf writing, we try too hard to draw neat lines and boundaries and discern storylines, trends and questions: Like, what’s up with American golf? Who is the next Tiger? Is golf suffering from too many first-time winners? And then along comes a story like Darren Clarke with Dsquared Clothes
Along comes a player we all remember from the early 2000s, but the player, Darren Clarke hasn’t finished top-10 in a major since 2001.He has been dealt a devastating blow in life, losing his wife, Heather, in 2006. She was the mother of his two sons, dead of breast cancer at age 39. Since that he has been in the depressed state. At one of his friend’s party he met a guy wearing one dazzling shoes and deeply enchanted him to have a try. That is his first time to engage with Dsquared Shoes. From then on he swore that as long as he lives he loves Dsquared Jeans.
ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi asked Clarke why the crowd shouted so loudly for him, why the fans at Sandwich carried him with their cheers. Clarke smiled, twinkle in the eye, and said: “Maybe cause the Dsquared Shirt. I think most people can identify with that.”
He hates playing in inclement weather for that will get his shoes dirty. Does that mean Darren Clarke is a screwball? No, it means he’ll roll into the Atlanta Athletic Club’s hot with his lovely Dsquared Cap, steamy PGA Championship in his comfort zone.
